This year ANZAC Day is a bit special for Moree's Tim Barwick. Tim is now a Sergeant in the Artillery and not only is he part of the official contingent at ANZAC Cove, he is also responsible for the security and movement of the weapons being used in the dawn services.

"I grew up in Moree and attended Courallie High School and once I finished year 12, I joined the Army," said Tim. "But I still have family and friends who live in Moree.

"I was then allocated to the Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery, being posted to Gun regiments in Brisbane, Townsville and Darwin. Recently I was posted to Canberra as part of Australia 's Federation Guard.

"The Australian Federation Guard consists of members from all three services who represent the Defence Force in various ceremonial tasks around Australia and overseas.

"Gallipoli is not my first overseas trip - before the Federation Guard I had deployed to Timor Leste, the Solomon Islands , and to Butterworth in Malaysia .

"But this trip to Gallipoli is definitely the pinnacle of my Army career so far. As a Guardsman there's a one in 20 chance of being selected to go, so I feel really honoured to be chosen."
