Anzac Day Lone Pine Memorial Service Gallipoli

Anzac Day, 25 April 2006, marked the 91st anniversary of the first nationally significant military action fought by the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) in World War One.

A contingent of Australia's Federation Guard supported by elements of the RAAF Central Band participated in the traditional dawn service in Anzac Cove , Turkey.  The service was led by the Principal Chaplain of the Australian Army, Chaplain Gregory Flynn (RC).

The contingent comprised 37 uniformed personnel, including two members of the Royal Australian Air Force cadets, recipients of the CSGT Ellie Tibble Memorial Scholarship.

The senior Australian officer at the commemorative service in Turkey was the Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Russ Shalders, AO, CSC, RAN.
