Anzac Day 2010

24 April 2010
*Sarbi spends ANZAC Day in Afghanistan

The Explosive Detection Dog found last year after she went missing for almost 14 months in Afghanistan, is still continuing her service with the Special Operations Task Group personnel as their unofficial mascot.

*Sarbi, a Labrador serving with the Australian Army, will join her two-legged colleagues for an ANZAC Dawn Service in Afghanistan.

Currently living at Camp Russell in Tarin Kowt, *Sarbi remains under the care of Special Operations Task Group and is a welcome and constant visitor to all parts of the headquarters as she does her exercise rounds at Camp Russell on a daily basis.

A veteran of two tours of Afghanistan, *Sarbi received a special honour by meeting the Governor General, Her Excellency Ms Quentin Bryce AC during her recent visit to Afghanistan.

* A recent check of Sarbi’s regimental record, revealed that Sarbi’s name has been previously incorrectly spelt in Defence public reporting and the record is now corrected to show the spelling as Sarbi, not 'Sabi'.
