RAAF Base East Sale

Aircraft

All RAAF aircraft permanently based at RAAF Base East Sale are light propeller driven aircraft. On occasion visiting RAAF aircraft of all types, including heavier jet and propeller aircraft, transit through the airspace or land at East Sale for training, graduation parade static displays and other Defence tasks.

KA350 King Air aircraft

32 Squadron operate a fleet of KA350 King Air for the primary purpose of training Air Combat Officers and Aviation Warfare Officers for the Australian Air Force and Navy, respectively. The King Air aircraft are also utilised for passenger transport tasking.

PC-9/A aircraft

Air Forces PC-9/A two-seat, single-engine turbo propeller aircraft is one of the principal training aircraft for the Australian Defence Force. It is flown by the Central Flying School at RAAF Base East Sale.

The Roulettes aerobatic display team also fly PC-9/A aircraft for their breathtaking displays.

34 Squadron Challenger CL-604 jet based at RAAF Establishment Fairbairn

 

 

 

 

CT-4B Trainer aircraft

CT-4B trainer aircraft is a single-engine, propeller driven aircraft also flown by the Central Flying School at RAAF Base East Sale. The primary role is to teach pilots to become flying instructors for the Basic Flying Training School in Tamworth.

 

Helicopter

One contracted search and rescue helicopter from CHC helicopters, is located at East Sale. Its role is to support military aircraft in the unlikely event that aircrew need to be recovered quickly after ejecting from an aircraft.
