19 June 2009 Australia's contribution to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan is an important component of the Australian Government's commitment to working together with the international community to help prevent acts of terrorism around the world. In support of Australia’s commitment to Operation SLIPPER, the Minister for Defence, the Honourable Joel Fitzgibbon, and his guest, Mr Keith Payne VC, visited Australian forces around the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO). During the visit, the Minister for Defence received briefs from different capabilities across the MEAO. Their visit coincided with ANZAC Day 2009. |
