26 March 2009 Since 2001 the Australian Defence Force Parliamentary Program (ADFPP) has successfully provided Parliamentarians with a unique and enjoyable insight into service life in the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Additionally, the opportunity for serving Australian Defence Members to gain placements in Parliamentary offices has been particularly valuable. Members and Senators have the opportunity to participate in attachments offered by each of the three Services as well as Joint Operations. The Program is open to all Federal Parliamentarians and is totally non-partisan. An integral part of the ADF Parliamentary Program is the exchange element where ADF personnel are attached to the office of a Parliamentarian at Parliament House for a period of one week. Exchange personnel gain an insight into the parliamentary and committee processes, develop and appreciation of the departments that operate within Parliament House and learn how a Senator or Member of Parliament operates within the Australian Parliament House environment. |
