ADFHEAS is a scheme where defined, completed education and training provided by Defence may be accepted as “advanced standing” or “credit” towards specific university-awarded qualifications.
The scheme covers postgraduate and undergraduate further education and training.
ADFHEAS does not prevent any member from applying for entry to any university program under normal university arrangements. Nor does ADFHEAS preclude any member from seeking additional advanced standing for Defence provided education, training and experience not already included in ADFHEAS.
ADFHEAS does not replace or impact existing Defence or single Service programs or arrangements with universities.
The following Universities have agreed to give “advanced standing” towards a number of their awards for defined Defence education and training. The amount of advanced standing given does vary from university to university, and from award to award.
Details of the awards in the scheme, and the agreed levels of “advanced standing”, may be viewed by selecting the icon for each university. Each university page has a link to their home page where members can access more detailed information. Universities have indicated that they may include additional awards within the scheme in the future.
Defence is negotiating with other universities their inclusion in the scheme. These will be added to this site as they join.
To determine your eligibility for advanced standing for:
Members accepted into a tertiary program by a university may be eligible for financial support under the Defence Assisted Study Scheme (DASS) or the Career Transition Assistance Scheme (CTAS). DI(G) PERS 05- 1 refers.
Applications for assistance through DASS must be made on Form AD 105 – Defence Assisted Study Scheme Application. Submission requirements for DASS are set out on the Defence Assisted Study Scheme Website.
Members may be eligible for assistance under the Career Transition Assistance Scheme (CTAS) - see ADF Pay and Conditions Manual, Chapter 2, Part 2. Form AD145 must be submitted to a CTAS delegate.
Universities reserve the right to set entry requirements to, and limit numbers in a program. It follows, eligibility for advanced standing through ADFHEAS does not guarantee entry into the university program. Further detail is set out in each university home page.
