9 August 2009
Members of the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA), through the Community Service Voluntary Extra Curricular Activity (CSV) participated in this year’s City2Surf in Sydney on Sunday, 9 August in support of the Podmore Foundation.
A team of Midshipmen and Officer Cadets donned bright yellow Podmore Foundation t-shirts, completed their normal warm-ups and stretches before striding down the 14 kilometre stretch from Hyde Park to Bondi Beach.
The CSV consists of Midshipmen and Officer Cadets who volunteer their time to participate in events and fundraisers in Canberra and abroad. All events and activities are run by cadets for cadets and enable participation by all Academy members.
This is the first event ADFA has participated in with the Podmore Foundation. The Podmore Foundation was set up by Royal Military College graduates, class of December 1973. They are committed to returning opportunity to young people who may need mentors as well as financial support.
This year, the City2Surf was headed by Army Officer Cadet Nathan Mills and Air Force Officer Cadet Michael Toovey.
This event was a fantastic opportunity to become involved with a Foundation close to home with money raised, helping the Podmore Foundation with their continuing commitment to the community.
Undoubtedly, the ADFA team will be back next year, with more runners and more donations to support such a worthwhile organisation.
