Eighteen Gun Salute Rehearsal

Australia’s Federation Guard conducted an Eighteen Gun Salute rehearsal at the Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA), as part of a comprehensive training program to prepare them for ceremonial duties

The rehearsal was viewed by the Academy’s Midshipmen, Officer Cadets and Academic staff.   The reviewing officer was Major General Ian Gordon.  The Commandant of ADFA, Air Commodore Margaret Staib was also in attendance.

Officer Commanding Australia’s Federation Guard, Major Brendan Kellaway said “The rehearsal was an opportunity for Australia’s Federation Guard to show their skills to the future leaders of the Australian Defence Force.”

The parade consisted of a Tri-service Honour Guard, precision drill demonstration and eighteen blank rounds fired from the ceremonial Gun Battery.

Australia’s Federation Guard is the tri-service ceremonial unit for the Australian Defence Force.   Based in Canberra, “The Guard” provides ceremonial support for events of public, political or Defence interest.
