ADFA Mountaineering Club

Canberra's proximity to a variety of cliffs makes it a great base for beginner level and experienced rock climbing.

In winter the Mountaineering Club invites members to participate in activities in Kosciusko National Park. These are usually training activities involving ice climbing, navigation and basic snow skills.

Those who show particular interest in mountaineering can also attend a basic alpine climbing course which is usually run in New Zealand each year. This course involves instruction in areas such as snow and ice climbing movements, roped alpine climbing, glacier travel, crevasse rescue, avalanche awareness and alpine first aid.

There is also scope within the VECA for activities inclusive of bush walking and sea kayaking.
