New Learning Management System Arrives

The Australian Defence College's international reputation for delivering excellence in the higher education space is now complemented by a powerful new tool. With learning increasingly happening outside the classroom, lecture theatre or library, and most current information now created, accessed and discussed online, the ADC has introduced a web-based Learning Management System called Moodle. WIth the rise in digitalisation of information, the ADC has identified a way to converge these ever-growing streams into a platform that is accessible by all staff and students. Due to ADC's unique educational environment, this platform that is accessible to both Australians and foreign visitors, locally and abroad and able to accommodate a wide range of learning and teaching requirements.

We are very excited by these new capabilities, as they provide a vehicle that brings our geographically dispersed learning centres together in a central place. We hope that it will foster the creation of a community of practice and give our people a sense of belonging and collaboration. Our faculty staff are currently working to design their courses in the new system, aiming to be operational in 2013.
