The Australian Command and Staff College (ACSC) is headed by a 1-star officer - Commandant Australian Command and Staff College (COMDT ACSC) – Brigadier Peter Gates. The ACSC is located within the Australian Defence College (ADC) Command and Vice Chief of Defence Force (VCDF) Group. ACSC delivers training and education via a number of learning centres and a variety of courses. HQ ACSC is located at the Australian Defence College Weston ACT, with learning centres based at ADC Weston ACT, RAAF Base Williamtown, Newcastle, NSW and RAAF Base Williams, Laverton VIC.
The Aim of the Australian Command and Staff College (ACSC) is to oversee the education and training delivery of specified ADF joint courses in order to prepare select individuals in command, capability and joint staff appointments within the contemporary and future security environments.
ACSC’s role is:
- to prepare selected career officers for command and staff appointments at the O5 level in single Service, joint and integrated environments as a member of the profession of arms and;
- to review and develop joint doctrine, develop and deliver joint individual and peace operations training, and provide simulation support to ADO stakeholders in order to enhance joint, multi agency and international engagement capability.
