MISSION

Our mission is to:

lead, shape and engage the development and practice of command, management, leadership and military ethics in Defence.

VISION

Our vision is of:

a Defence organisation respected for its leadership at all levels – internally, externally and internationally.

FUNCTIONS

The function of CDLE is to:

  • Provide the Commander Joint Education, Training and Warfare with specialist advice to ensure command, leadership, management and military ethics development activities sponsored by the ADC are conducted effectively and efficiently;
  • Provide a strategic-level framework to allow Defence individuals and groups involved in command, leadership, management and military ethics development activities to share information and ideas;
  • Conduct research on command, leadership, management and military ethics issues of interest to Defence and produce papers and articles;
  • Support those command, leadership, management and military ethics development activities referred to the Centre by Defence groups by providing advice on more appropriate, effective or efficient skills and strategies;
  • Deliver specialised professional courses to ADF groups and agencies;
  • Build a leadership development network with the ADF’s coalition partners; and
  • Build and share a comprehensive body of professional knowledge on command, leadership, management and military ethics issues.
