CDLE-
Centre for Defence Leadership and Ethics
Course Development
An important part of the Centre’s work revolves around the provision of training and education. The Centre is currently working with the following organisations or groups to enhance the understanding, awareness and conduct of command, leadership, management and military ethics.
Australian Defence College
The Centre has an ongoing commitment to the development of command, leadership management and military ethics education and training at the Australian Defence Force Academy, Australian Command and Staff Course and Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies.
Royal Australian Navy
The Centre has been privileged to work closely with the RAN for the last few years in the development and conduct of the command and leadership module of the RAN CO/XO MFU/MWV Desig course. This course is designed to prepare the RAN’s newest Commanding and Executive Officers for their jobs at sea.
The command and leadership module has grown in importance since its inception and is now conducted as a four day activity at the beginning of the course. The module deals with contemporary command, leadership and ethics issues and is delivered in a manner that encourages robust discussion and reflection on these important issues by course participants.
The Centre is also pleased to be involved with the RAN CO/XO Shore Desig course and in early November 2008 was able to present an inaugural four day command and leadership module tailored to the needs of new Commanding and Executive Officers about to take up shore command in the RAN.
Australian Army
The Centre has had the opportunity to present a new military ethics workshop in 2008 as a module of the Army’s All Corps Grade Two Command and Staff Course. The workshop draws not only on well known and important ethical case studies from the ADF’s past but also relies heavily on examining ethical issues occurring in current operations and the barracks environment. An important feature of this workshop is the encouragement of robust discussion and reflection on these important issues by course participants.
Can we help you?
The Centre has the capability to provide short seminars or workshops in all areas of command, leadership, management and military ethics as well as assist in the development of more extensive education and training such as discussed above.
