Academic Facilities
- One 220 seat lecture theatre,
- Two 60 seat lecture theatres, one capable of video
conferencing 16 large syndicate (tutorial) rooms,
holding 16 persons 6 small syndicate rooms, holding
12 persons (and capable of sub-division)
- 22 sub-syndicate rooms, holding 4 persons

Audio
Visual
The ADC - WC has advanced
audio visual facilities including:
- 4 MultiMedia theatres;
- 1 theatre of 220 person capacity;
- 1 theatre of 80 person capacity;
and
- 2 theatres of 60 person capacity,
1 of which includes a video-conferencing system.
In addition, there are:
- 20 syndicate rooms equipped with
data projectors and MATV (Master Antennae
Television);
- Video and Audio Systems;
- Electronic white boards;
- 4 conference rooms with the
syndicate specifications; and
- Campus Mess audiovisual system.
The college has an extensive
network of RF (radio frequency) outlets throughout including
offices and common areas that provide the ACSC and CDSS
with an internal messaging system (bulletin board).
ADC-WC has the capacity
to Video-Tele Conferencing (VTC) facilities enabling
the college to participate in real time lectures, think
tank discussions and Q&A with some of the worlds leading
authorities on their subject from across the globe.
Information
Technology
The ACSC operates an administrative
LAN for use by academic and support staff; and a dedicated
LAN for student use.
Each student is issued with a modern, capable notebook
computer for their use whilst on course.
Standard Microsoft Office Applications
forms the baseline, however, various other software
packages and database applications will be available
including the capability to conduct collaborative planning
and mind mapping.
Prayer Room
There is a dedicated prayer room on
the third floor of the ACSC building.
Library
The library is integrated into the
IT LAN allowing students local access through their
notebook computers.

Library staff provide specialist library
and information services to the students and staff of
the College as well as to other serving members.
The library contributes to the shared
Network catalogue Online Defence Information Network
(ODIN) and works
in partnership with the Defence Corporate Support Group.
ODIN Online Defence Information Network is based on
a bibliographic database of records for library materials
combined with powerful search software.
The services provided by the library include a focussed
collection of 10,000 monographs;180 serial titles; an
in-house index to periodical articles; access to CD-ROM’s
and online access to Australian and international databases
as well as related sites using Internet access.
The strengths of the collection are in the categories
of international relations; national policy and infrastructure;
military strategic thought; national, regional and international
security and defence. Active collection development
and enhancement is occurring in organisation and management
subjects and the operational level of conflict.
Also available online is the Australian
Defence Library offering information resources that
empowers the Defence community to pursue personal and
professional development.
Mess
The Mess (pictured below), overlooks the lake and is
for use by all personnel working at Weston Creek. It
features a 200-seat dining room, bar, ante rooms and
a verandah entertainment area (also pictured below).
A range of options are available for lunch from light
bar snacks, sandwiches and rolls to full a la carte
dining and formal top table lunches for special occasions.
All are reasonably priced.
A number of formal and informal evening functions will
occur in the Mess during the course.
Lunch, at a very reasonable cost, is available during
working days and meals are prepared to meet religious
or special dietary requirements.


Social Program
An active social program is encouraged and, other
than for a number of organised functions, the details
are generally left to the course members to determine.
Whenever possible, while Distinguished Guests are
visiting the College, the opportunity is provided
for course members to meet
them on a less formal basis.
Functions are also held to meet other distinguished
individuals and groups.
A welcoming function for all
course members and their spouses will be held during
the orientation program. The College invites spouses
to actively participate in the social life of the
course throughout the year.

Other less formal social occasions are organised throughout
the year. Overseas course members and their spouses
are encouraged to wear equivalent national dress to
functions.
Recreation/Fitness/Tennis/Gym/Volleyball
Within the ADC there is a modern, well-equipped
fitness centre, with showers and change facilities,
tennis, volleyball courts, and an exercise track.
Each course member also has a personal locker in the
change facilities within the main ACSC building.
Volleyball courts and 4 floodlit tennis courts are also
available on site.
There are popular jogging and bicycle tracks adjacent
to the College.
Slightly further afield, within the
bounds of Canberra, there are many other recreational
facilities which cater for most tastes.
Within a two-hour drive is the South Coast of New South
Wales with its excellent beaches and resorts, the fishing
and bush-walking areas of the Southern Tablelands, and
the ski-fields of the Australian Alps. The ski season
officially extends from June to October.
Refreshment
Facilities
Tea and coffee facilities, filtered water,
fridge and microwave are available in the kitchenettes
located in the main ACSC building breakout areas. Food
and beverages are not permitted in the theatres or library.
Banking
A DEFCREDIT Union operates on the lower floor of the
ACSC building.
Branches of the Westpac Banking Corporation,
National Australia Bank,
Commonwealth Bank and
St George Bank are located
at Cooleman Court, Weston, some five minutes drive from
the ADC. All have auto tellers. The closest Branch of
the ANZ
Bank is at Woden, about 10 minutes drive from the
College. Other major banks also have branches at Woden.
Car Parking

There are adequate car parking spaces for staff
and students within the Weston Creek grounds.

environment to cater for all the demands of the course
and its participants. It boasts enviable academic, fitness,
