Exercise Aces North 06 is the culmination of the Fighter Combat Instructor (FCI) course which trains select aircrew (pilots and navigators) Fighter Combat Instructors, Air Defence Fighter Combat Controllers and Intelligence Officers in the skills necessary for Fighter Aircraft and Air Defence operations in complex war-like scenarios.

For the participating aircrew, it is essentially the Royal Australian Air Force’s equivalent to the coveted US Navy Top Gun course.

The exercise will be conducted from both Royal Australian Air Force Bases Darwin and Tindal (near Katherine) between 12 May 06 and 17 Jun 06 and will include operations at Delamere Air Weapons Range.
