I fell in love with flying when my dad took me up in a Cessna 172 when I was 7 years old. I have continually asked dad every holiday break and birthday for a chance to go back and fly again, which we have done so multiple times.

It was only a few years ago that I decided that I wanted to fly as part of the Air Force and have pursued my dream ever since. The experience that I had on Saturday morning at the Richmond RAAF base has made me even more confident that being in the air force is what I would love to do.

I was greeted by Wing Commander Paul Reddacliff and he not only escorted Dad and I directly to the cockpit of a C-130 Hercules, but he also waited for us and continued escorting us to other aircraft (such as the King Air and Spartan) for about 2 hours. Pilot Byron Hill had a 45 minute chat with me all about the Hercules, the RAAF and requirements and entry pathways into the Air force.

I learnt so much and I feel even more confident in my choices to become a pilot. It was an amazing experience.
