simulation - display hardware

Thomas Electronics of Australia has extensive experience in the development and supply of custom display solutions for the simulation industry.

Firstly, Thomas can develop facsimiles of original flight displays, thus offering:

  • reduced initial cost from using full flight-approved units from the avionic OEM
  • ability to drive direct from VGA inputs without the need for converters
  • reduced total-life costs through the use of standard, common components.

Such systems are used in the PC-9 Cockpit Procedural Trainer developed by BAE Systems for the RAAF and in the RAN's Seahawk and Seasprite simulators.

Secondly, the company can develop displays, including optics, to simulate sensors that may not normally be available in a simulation environment. Examples of these have been used by Thales in their ASLAV (Australian Light Armoured Vehicle) simulator include Daysights, Unity Windows and Image Intensifiers.

Finally, Thomas can overhaul projection tubes used in many simulator visual displays systems. In some cases support can be maintained for tubes no longer supported but the OEM.
