The Sonartech Sonobuoy Processing System (Sonix) provides advanced multi-static active processing in addition to passive and mono-static active processing. The system can operate simultaneously in passive mode, mono-static active mode and multi-static active mode.
Sonix also provides and advanced torpedo defence function for surface platforms. Sonix performs a number of parallel processing tasks for data from each of the buoys laid during an operation. This processing includes:

  • Bathymetric processing;
  • Ambient noise processing (ANM and LOFAR buoys);
  • Passive processing (LOFAR, DIFAR, Barra and RASSPUTIN);
  • Mono-static active processing (DICASS);
  • Multi-static active processing (DIFAR, Barra and RASSPUTIN).


Sonix can be delivered in a number of Hardware configurations including conduction or air cooled ATR chassis for aircraft to VME racks for surface ships.

Sonix can provide monitoring for up to 64 channels and can be integrated to a tactical network via a MIL-STD-1553B or Ethernet interface.

Variants of Sonix have been installed and deployed on P3-C MPA, S-70B-2 ASW helicopters, ANZAC and FFG-7 class surface combatants and other craft-of-opportunity such as Fremantle class patrol boats.
