Shark Shield Pty Ltd

Shark Shield is a South Australian-based private company owned by a number of individuals including the founders. There are three institutional shareholders: Gerard Corporation, Playford Capital (funded partly by Microsoft) and Japanese marine equipment supplier, Nippon Kaiyo.

The company's Shark Shield technology is now distributed internationally to a significant extent, for commercial and recreational divers and related marine activities.
In the early 1990s scientists from the Natal Sharks Board of South Africa discovered a unique electronic waveform that repelled sharks. Shark Shield now holds a world exclusive license for this technology.

Early prototypes were used to protect tri-athletes during the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

In April 2002 Shark Shield launched its first Shark Shield™ electronic shark deterrent product. The Shark Shield range has now expanded to include several products, covering different types of uses.
