P3 - tactical ad hoc data and voice links over copper cables
P3s provide simple and effective C4ISR extensions over copper cables for data and voice at speeds of 8Mbs (on each of its three transmission channels) over distances of up to 8km. P3s transform the way ad hoc networks and general data and voice links are established (especially on a brigade level and below).
Copper cables, plain or military grade, when used with the P3 provide a viable alternative to fibre optic based systems - and are sturdy, flexible and up to 20 times cheaper than fragile fibre optic links. Copper remains a soldier friendly medium that is easily deployed, retrieved and, when damaged, could be repaired as easily as "tying shoelaces”.
Developed and proven in collaboration with RASC, P3s are in production with customers in the Australian Defence Force, the New Zealand Defence Force, Canada, UK and UAE.
In addition to defence applications, P3s are ideal for establishing communications in disaster recovery, civil defence and the mining areas - anywhere with a need for rapidly established, inexpensive and robust data communications networks.
- P3 provide simple and very effective tactical C4I extensions
- extend data (8Mbs) and voice over copper cable (incl. WD1T)
- portable, rugged, self-contained and proven soldier-friendly product
- replaces expensive and fragile fibre-optic (FOC)-based systems without loss of functionality

- Australian Defence force-proven and in-service;
- off-the-shelf capability
- 400 Systems are in use by Australian, New Zealand, UAE and British armies
- proven in most of the recent high-profile operations
- NSN coded: 5895-66-150-8767
- successful trials in UK, Canada, UAE and Thailand
- cost saving is a factor of 10+ without loss of functionality
- major advantage are in use of copper cables instead of FOC
- copper WD1T is simple and fast to roll out and retrieve and, when damaged, is as simple to repair as tying shoelaces
- fibre in sharp contrast is expensive and fragile
- apart from tactical LAN links, P3 can extend or interconnect a range of IP devices: sensors, cameras, Radar and Fire Control Systems – can easily be adopted for other C4ISR requirements
- DCI offers training and technical product support directly.
