Hobart Class Air Warfare Destroyers
In May 2005, the Australian Government selected ASC as the Shipbuilder in the Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) Alliance to build Australia's Hobart Class AWDs. The AWD Alliance comprises the Defence Materiel Organisation, ASC (shipbuilder) and Raytheon Australia (combat system systems engineer).
ASC's selection recognises the organisation's unparalleled capability and expertise in working closely with Defence Materiel Organisation in the construction of complex naval vessels, namely the Collins Class submarines.
As the AWD Shipbuilder, ASC is responsible for AWD block construction and integration, including combat and platform systems integration and fabrication, at its dedicated, world class shipyard in Techport Australia, Osborne, South Australia.
