C130J wing flaps

After several unsuccessful attempts by other parties, including Lockheed Martin, Hawker de Havilland undertook the redesign and subsequent manufacture of C130 wing flaps to solve a cracking problem.

The subsequent redesign in carbon fibre has been successfully tested up to 60,000 hours with no evidence of deterioration compared to the original metallic flaps which cracked after only 3,000 to 4,000 hours of operation.

Carbon fibre flaps designed and manufactured in Australia by Hawker de Havilland are now fitted to all C130J models worldwide.
