Overseas deployments and postings - APS

Defence APS employees employed overseas in support of an ADF operation or employed within an ADF operational specified area at the direction of Defence are provided with enhanced benefits.

These may include:

  • additional allowances
  • relief out-of-country travel fare assistance
  • additional leave
  • assistance on injury

The applicable conditions of service and benefits depend on the nature of the particular operation and the length of the member's deployment. For full details of each benefit see PACMAN Chapter 17.

The ADF participation in, and subsequent conditions of service for, warlike and non-warlike deployments performed in an overseas operational area are intentionally different to those for Defence civilians reflecting the nature of their deployment, their roles as combatants, and their fundamental conditions of service.
