Pay and Conditions

ADF Member's Guide

Salary-related allowances

There are a range of salary-related allowances you may get when you serve in the ADF.

Your work, location, qualification and other conditions determine which allowances you may get.

How much can I get?

You may get a daily rate, an annual rate or a pro rata rate of allowance. This depends on your pattern of hours. For example, if you take leave at half pay, you may get half the annual allowance.

When do my allowances stop?

You may not get an allowance if you don’t meet a required condition of that allowance.

You may not get an allowance if you are:

  • on unpaid leave
  • serving with and being paid by the United Nations, or
  • serving with and being paid by a multinational force.

More information about allowances can be found in Chapter 4 Part 2 Part A.
