Officer Aviation remuneration structure allowance

You may get a seniority-based allowance if you are an identified Officer Aviation member of the Permanent Air Force.

Who can get an Officer Aviation remuneration structure allowance?

You may get an Officer Aviation remuneration structure allowance if you are a:

  • fast jet pilot, or
  • fixed wing pilot.

When can I get an Officer Aviation remuneration structure allowance?

You may get an Officer Aviation remuneration structure allowance if you are:

  • a fast jet pilot with Proficient (Category C) status, or
  • a fixed wing pilot with Proficient (Category C) status

and

  • in the Officer Aviation Career Stream, or
  • in the Legacy Stream

and

  • in the first 48 months as either a substantive Squadron Leader or Wing Commander, or
  • in your 4th, 5th or 6th year as an aviation specialist

and not

  • under the RAAF Officer Aviation Remuneration Structure transitional bonus.

You may get an annual or a pro rata allowance.

When can I get a pro rata allowance?

You may get a pro rata allowance for effective service.

You or your legal personal representative may get a pro-rata allowance for effective service if:

  • you die
  • you reach compulsory retirement age, or
  • you are medically unfit.

What does effective service mean?

Effective service means it is paid, continuous full-time service. Some types of leave may affect the period of effective service. This includes:

  • part-time leave without pay
  • leave at half pay
  • leave without pay
  • maternity leave without pay
  • absent without leave
  • service for another bonus payment
  • imprisonment, detention, suspension from duty without pay
  • superannuation further service, and
  • Return of Service obligation.

When can’t I get the Officer Aviation remuneration structure allowance?

You won’t get the Officer Aviation remuneration structure allowance if you:

  • no longer meet the criteria
  • leave the Officer Aviation remuneration structure
  • resign from the Permanent Forces
  • transfer to the Reserve service
  • are notified of termination for disciplinary or administrative reasons, or
  • start training as part of a voluntary transfer of employment category.
