Menin Gate Memorial in Belgium
The family of WWI soldiers Sergeant George Calder and Private John Hunter have arrived in Belgium to witness the re-interment of their relatives.
The remains of the two soldiers, from the 51st Battalion and the 49th Battalion respectively, were found with three unknown Australian diggers at a pipeline excavation near Westhoek, Belgium, last year.
They were killed in the area during the 3rd Battle of Ypres in 1917.
21 soldiers from the 51st Battalion, the Far North Queensland Regiment will re-inter the remains at Buttes New British Cemetery on October 4.
The next of kin will attend the ceremony.
Although the Australian Government does not actively seek out the remains of service members missing in other countries, when they are found it will make every effort to re-inter them appropriately.
