Geoffrey was wounded in action on 22 December 2010, when an improvised explosive device detonated close to him. He suffered a traumatic brain injury, a spinal injury and also suffers PTSD. Geoffrey has become a noted figure in the veteran support community of New South Wales. He serves as the Contemporary Veterans Advisor to RSL Life Care and as a Wounded Ambassador for Soldier On.
