Campaign Medals

This section provides information on Australian and Imperial campaign awards made to Australians since Federation in 1901 and includes the Boer War 1899 -1902.

Pre-Federation, campaign medals and awards for gallantry and distinguished service were made to members of the former colonial military forces who served in conflicts in New Zealand (Maori Wars 1840's and 1860's), the Sudan (the Sudan War 1885), China (the Boxer Uprising 1900-1901) and the Boer War (pre 1901).

Although only campaign awards are currently included on this site, it is intended to include information on gallantry and distinguished service awards, both Imperial and Australian, on future sites. (This information is currently available at the internet sources listed in the Links section). The site has no information on foreign awards or United Nation awards at this stage.

Images are shown on this site with the obverse (front) shown with the ribbon attached. The reverse (back) is shown without the ribbon. The reason for this is to avoid any confusion with the correct display of the ribbon.
