Aircraft Pavement Marco Roller |
The Civil Engineering Section of the Directorate of Estate Engineering Policy in Defence Support Group, Canberra currently manages a number of heavy rollers specifically for use for compaction and proof rolling of aircraft pavements and subgrades during their construction. Defence currently maintains a fleet of nine heavy Marco Rollers, one test rig and one porter super compactor. The links below outline the range of rollers available and the conditions under which the rollers are available for hire by civilian contractors. An overview of each roller is further provided using the links below. The locality and condition of each roller may vary from the information contained in these links and potential hirers should clarify the exact location and condition with the listed point of contact below. Similarly, the condition of the roller may necessitate repairs prior to hire and hirers should make allowance for inspection and any required works. Where required, the repair costs may be offset against hire fees after agreement by Defence. Hiring is arranged on a first come first served basis. When inspecting the rollers, the following report format is to be used and submitted using the contact details provided. This report must be completed post-hire when returning the roller, however it is also recommended that this report format be used when assessing the condition of a roller prior to its use to ensure all features are considered.
