Renewing an export permission, licence or permit

Export permissions and licences all have a set duration, which will vary from case to case. If we have issued you with a certificate or licence, we will send you a reminder notice shortly before it is due to expire. Holders of existing export permissions, licences or permits that commence with the prefix DOD can, in many instances, renew their approval through a simplified renewal process.

To renew an approval, you will need to complete the first three sections of the Application to Export Controlled Goods and Technology form.

No changes to the details of an approval

If you require no changes to the details of the consignees, end-users, and the goods or technology description, you will only have to answer Section 13 and complete the Statement at the end of the form when asking us to re-issue your approval. You can then submit the form and we will upload the application form using the details we already have on record. You will receive an acknowledgement email when we upload your application.

Changes to the details of an approval

If you do need to change the details of the consignees, end-users, or the goods or technology, you will need to complete all the remaining relevant sections of the application form, before submitting it. You will receive an acknowledgement email when we upload your application.

We will usually assess an application to renew an approval within 15 working days.
