Exercise Bersama Lima 2013 is a multi-national military activity involving Singapore, United Kingdom, Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia.

The exercise will occur from 7 – 21 November 2013 in the South China Sea and peninsular Malaysia. The exercise comprises a planning phase at Butterworth Air Base in Malaysia and a field phase in the South China Sea exercise area.

Exercise Bersama Lima 2013 aims to cultivate regional ties and seeks to enhance Australia’s interoperability with the participating armed forces.  The exercise enhances interoperability of air, ground and naval forces under the auspices of the Integrated Area Defence System for the defence of Malaysia and Singapore.

About 400 ADF personnel will take part in the exercise including the crew of HMAS Parramatta and aviation support staff.

Royal Australian Navy frigate HMAS Parramatta will take part in the field activity.

Royal Australian Air Force aircraft including F/A-18, AP-3C Orion, E7A Wedgetail and a KC-30A multi role tanker transport aircraft will be Australia’s air contribution.
