Samantha Gould

What is the Nature of your injury or illness?

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and depression.

What role has sport played in your rehabilitation?

As a result of having PTSD and depression I have difficulty maintaining a consistent level of motivation. I have used sport to help me with this.

I have been involved in martial arts since I was seven. Over the last couple of years I have found my focus has shifted away from my own personal training and towards coaching.

Being around other people who have worked to overcome their difficulties with similar issues has been a huge help to me.

What is your greatest achievement to date?

Knowing that I have been able to give children and women the confidence to defend themselves through becoming a martial arts coach.

Why did you apply for the Invictus Games?

I wanted to be part of a team and watch everyone achieve.
