The Department of Defence is holding a Community Walk-in Session in Katherine to provide the local community an update on the detailed environmental investigation into per- and poly- fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) at RAAF Base Tindal and nearby areas.
Members of the investigation team will be available to discuss the progress of the investigation and answer questions about the Human Health Risk Assessment.
Defence will also hold a Community Shopfront, to provide an opportunity to find out more about the environmental investigations in an informal setting.

The Department of Defence opened a PFAS Investigation Community Shopfront at Shop 4 in the Katherine Oasis Woolworths Complex on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 March 2018.
The Shopfront provided the community with an opportunity to find out more about the PFAS investigation in an informal setting. Representatives from Defence, Coffey, Health and other government agencies were available at the shopfront to answer questions.
On the 4th of December Defence held a community walk-in session at Katherine to present information gathered during the Detailed Site Investigation and the findings of the Interim Human Health Risk Assessment.
The community walk-in session was followed by a community shopfront from that was held from the 5th to the 6th of December. Community members were invited to attend the community shopfront to talk about the investigation with representatives from Defence, the investigation team and other Government Agencies.

On 12 April 2017 Defence held a Community Information session in Katherine. The session provided a broad overview of PFAS substances and an update on the environmental investigation on and in the vicinity of RAAF Base Tindal. For further information download the presentation below.
On 22 March 2017 Defence released a notice to the community. The notice explains that preliminary tests identified the presence of PFAS around RAAF Base Tindal. The notice also provides a brief overview of the detailed environmental investigation.
