Defence Support Group

Defence Support Group (DSG) is the consolidated service delivery organisation for Defence.

DSG's mission is to be an innovative, agile and cost effective support service that enables and enhances the delivery of Defence capability.

DSG's vision: Supporting Defence capability and enabling Defence priorities.

DSG has a budget of about $3.4 billion, with an asset base in excess of $16 billion and around 5,000 civilian and 1,700 military staff. DSG also works closely with a contracted workforce to deliver support services.

DSG also maintains environmental stewardship of over 3 million hectares of land with more than 700 leased or owned properties, containing more than 25,000 built assets.

Its responsibilities include supporting the ADF and the Department of Defence through the provision of legal services, personnel administration and related functions such as education training and development, honours and awards, ADF housing, financial and travel services, and contracts that provide catering, cleaning and grounds maintenance services.

DSG also provides strategic health policy and advice to ADF members, including organisational and clinical psychology support.

DSG manages and sustains the Defence estate of land, buildings and infrastructure, including managing contracts for the construction of major new facilities (eg Headquarters Joint Operations Command at Bungendore) and the repairs and maintenance of existing facilities, as well as the disposal of excess properties and environmental heritage policy.

DSG consists of six divisions Chief Operating Officer Division (COOD), Joint Health Command (JHC), Defence Legal Division (DLD), Infrastructure Division (ID), National Operations Division (NOD) and Personnel Services Division (PSD).
