Function Statement
HPC collaborates closely with the PSP leadership team to ensure that Defence people are managed as an integrated workforce with a whole of Defence perspective, in order to build the people dimension of Defence capability. He has line responsibility for Strategic Workforce Planning, Defence Force Recruiting and Defence Occupational Health and Safety, as well as broader responsibilities as the J1 ADF. He is the senior military officer responsible for personnel issues in the ADF and works closely with the Services and Groups to ensure military personnel issues are addressed. He is a Commissioner on the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission and is also a member of the interagency committee established to review the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2004. He is a member of the Defence People Committee; the Defence Capability Committee; the Personnel Steering Group; the Defence Occupational Health and Safety Committee; the Defence Housing Australia Advisory Board; the Joint Education and Training Advisory Board; the Joint Doctrine Steering Group; the Defence Education and Training Committee; the Department of Veterans Affairs Ex Service Organisation Roundtable; and is an alternate member of the Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission. HPC also Chairs the Joint Working Group on Critical Categories; the Defence Force Recruiting Board of Management; and is Co-Chair of the Military Justice Coordination Committee. He is also the Vice President of the ADF Golf Association.
