For the last three years, Carmel has served as the Deputy Public Service Commissioner. Carmel has an extensive background in public administration including holding senior positions in the Department of Immigration and Citizenship and in Centrelink. Many of you will know that Carmel led the review into pathways for women in the Australian Public Service in the Defence organisation, one of the six cultural reviews undertaken by Defence.

Carmel will commence duties in Defence on Monday, 19 March 2012.
