Part 6: Education costs for children

15.6.1   Purpose

1.

The purpose of this Part is to reimburse additional costs for a child attending school overseas or staying behind in Australia.

2.

Additional education costs would result from the member being posted overseas.

15.6.2   Member this Part applies to

 

A member is eligible for education assistance under this Part if they meet all these conditions.

 

a.

They are on a long-term overseas posting.

 

b.

They have a dependant child.

 

c.

The child is in full-time primary or secondary education.

Exception: Education assistance is also provided for a child in pre-school at the member's posting location. The child must be at least three years old.

15.6.3   Member this Part does not apply to

 

Members are not eligible for education assistance for a child under this Part in either of these situations.

 

a.

The child does not normally live with the member.

 

b.

The member is an unaccompanied member on the long-term posting.
