Royal Thai Armed Forces Day , 16 March 2017
The Thai Defence and Air Attache in Australia recently hosted the annual Royal Thai Armed Forces Day. Traditionally, this event commemorates the victory of King Naresuan in a duel with the Burmese Crown Prince. This year the celebrations were held at Salai Thai, the Royal Thai Embassy in Canberra. Our own Thai Seconded Officer attended the event along with honoured guests, The Chief of Australian Defence Force and His Excellency the Ambassador of Thailand to Australia. The evening opened with a tribute to His Majesty, the late King of Thailand. After some official speeches and toasts, Thai military students joined with ADFA cadets to sing a song composed by His Majesty, King Bhumibol Adulyadej, which was dedicated to members of the Armed forces and designed to boost morale among military personnel.
