Imagery Science
Imagery Scientists
The role of the DIGO Imagery Scientist is to enhance geospatial intelligence capabilities through the planning and conduct of applied research and development into systems and processes used in the exploitation of digital imagery.
You will be working closely with analysts to identify systems enhancements and new capabilities. You will build concept demonstrators, develop capability business cases and develop and provide training as new systems and capabilities move into operational use.
You will monitor developments in a range of fields associated with imagery processing, and/or geospatial technologies, be able to identify promising technologies and develop a sound understanding of them in order to evaluate their potential for use within DIGO.
Ideally you would have a degree in the “hard sciences”.
Information Technology Professionals
IT professionals work with our exciting and expanding computer systems. The systems are a mix of UNIX and Windows environments and use advanced hardware and software. Our team of IT specialists comprise: Systems Administrators, Applications Developers, Network Communication Engineers, Systems Installation and Support Staff, and Database Administrators. We can further your skills in these rapidly developing fields.
We seek your enthusiasm, flexibility and talent. You will have either a Degree in Computer Science or related field, or relevant experience.
Intelligence Analysts (Imagery)
Intelligence Analysts (imagery) (IA(i)) study and interpret digital images and photographs collected by satellites and aircraft. Combining imagery analysis skills with in-depth knowledge of foreign political, economic and military issues, IA(i)s produce a wide range of intelligence products and presentations for customers throughout the Australian Government, including the Australian Defence Force. The typical IA(i) studies and reports on a single country or region of the world, or on a particular thematic or international issue such as terrorism.
Intelligence Analysts (Geospatial)
Intelligence Analysts (geospatial) (IA(g)) collect and analyse information about features on the ground, their relationships to the earth and to each other. Geographic features can be hills and valleys, rivers, buildings, streets or even schools. Using GIS (computers and software specifically designed to utilise this data) you can sort, examine, analyse, draw conclusions and display this data in a multitude of ways that would not be possible without GIS. You produce a variety of products to support DIGO’s customers, including the Australian Defence Force.
