| Content | The ADF Aircraft Systems Safety Engineering Course for Aerospace Engineers is a five-day course covering system safety from an ADF perspective. The course includes recent ADF aircraft accident statistics, basic system reliability analysis, risk management, human factors engineering, approaches to system safety, relevant international and Australian standards, software systems safety and prescribed ADF requirements. The course will provide an overview of the tools and techniques commonly adopted in conducting system safety engineering for aircraft; address the application of system safety engineering processes to aircraft acquisition and in-service support; and provide familiarity with the ADF system safety engineering requirements as they relate to technical airworthiness.
There are three courses scheduled each year by DAVCERT-DGTA. The first course will be scheduled around the 1st or 2nd week of March at RAAF Base Williams, Laverton. The second course will be scheduled in the third week of July at a venue to be nominated by DAVCERT-DGTA, while the third course will be scheduled for the second or third week of October in the Canberra area.

| Cost | Course costs: There is no cost involved for uniformed and APS personnel. Under current contractual pricing arrangements, the cost to contractors shall be $1,558 (GST Inclusive). For all other ADO personnel and Defence contractors: The individual’s parent unit/organisation is responsible for funding travel, meals and accommodation to attend this course. This also applies when the individual is at the training location. NB: Individual participants are responsible for organising their travel, meals and accommodation to attend this course. Note: Where there is advice contrary to the above, this DGTA-ADF advice takes precedence. Personnel are to nominate through their Unit Training Coordinators via PMKEYS in the first instance.
