So here for you are those articles which by ill luck couldn't be crammed into the hard copy received in homes. Articles are sorted by the season they would have gone in had the room been available (starting with Summer 2007/2008).

Article & Synopsis

A chance to pay respect
By Murray Wenzel
A dfm reader sent us this clipping and the good folks at News-Mail in Bundaberg in Queensland have kindly allowed us to re-print it here.
Murray’s article covers a World War II submariner’s return to Mon Repos, and the veteran’s reflections on the trip.
With thanks to News Mail: www.news-mail.com.au/

Australian Service Graves
By the Department of Veterans Affairs
Prior to mid last century, when Australian servicemen and women died overseas they were interred near where they fell. Thousands of graves in hundreds of cemeteries of Defence personnel exist; not just in Europe but also Asia such as Malaysia. This article talks about the care and maintenance Australia provides for our fallen to ensure that while they gave their service for our country that we in turn ensure their place of rest is cared for

Beers of a feather brew together
By Darren Gallagher
Our trusty field agent Darren Gallagher talks with Defence members who practice the ancient art of HomeBrew, and how this hobby is surprisingly portable - even with the multiple moves of the Defence family. Darren also challenges those with lovingly assembled bars to provide us pics for future consumption.

Did you know…?
By Darren Gallagher
Darren points out a number of celebrity entertainers who were in a previous career soldiers, sailors, marines or airmen in their respective country’s Defence forces. Do you know of any others? Let dfm know!

Home and away
By Darren Gallagher
The United States has the largest blue water naval fleet the world has ever seen. The average aircraft career has, for example, over six thousand personnel and the average sailor is in their early to mid 20s. When they reach port they’ve often been at sea for a long time, and many of these sailors wish to make the most of their short time on land.
To that end a program exists where Australian families can host visiting sailors and marines and give them a home-style taste of Australia.
In this article Darren discusses how he hosted a pair of marines in Sydney when their ship was in port, the fun they had, and how one of them soon realised that Darren had much in common with a certain celebrity.

Meet Keron Wise - the Defence Families of Australia Delegate for ACT and Southern NSW
A profile of Keron Wise, state delegate. DFA delegates often have a rich Defence family experience and Keron shares with us her experiences of having been posted overseas with her husband.

The Partners of Veterans Association of Australia
The Defence lifestyle has its ups and downs, and the partners of Defence members are faced with challenges that other families seldom experience. Even when a Defence member heads for civie street there are further challenges that need to be met–not only by them but also their family.
The Partners of Veterans Association of Australia is there to help family members of veterans. The article describes the aim of the organisation and provides web and contact details for those families seeking advice on managing their transition.

Truckasaurus Goes to the Tip
By Gordon Melsom
Truckasaurus is the trusty somewhat battered but well maintained Hilux owned by Gordon Melsom. Previous accounts of adventures concerning Gordon and his trusty steed have appeared in the Winter and Spring/Summer editions (2009) of dfm.

The tip in this case is not the local communal centre for rubbish collection but rather the tip of Oz – where Gordon and his family take Truckasaurus on an arduous journey to the far north.
