defence family matters

defence family matters (dfm) is tri-annual (sent around April, August, and December) news magazine sent to all permanent ADF personnel or those on Continuous Fulltime Service who have one or more dependants. It is also sent to Defence personnel, or their families, who have taken up the offer of a free subscription. In all, including personnel based overseas, and some reservists, dfm goes to around 28,000 homes and another 5,000 issues go to establishments and bases.

dfm provides ADF families with a reliable information source relating to matters that directly affect them, such as providing information on the range of common services supplied to them by Defence. Issues covered includes pay and allowance changes, support mechanisms for families and partners, housing, and advice and tips on dealing with posting issues. It also provides community support information from non for profit community focussed groups.

dfm transferred to DCO in January 2009. Currently its online presence remains in its former home in the Personnel Strategies and Policy Group. The dfm website will be moved to the DCO site shortly.
