Staying Connected is a DVD for members and their families highlights the importance of building and maintaining positive and supportive relationships in dealing with the challenges of military life.. It is designed to help Defence families throughout their ADF career from enlistment, training and deployment, through to transitioning into civilian careers.
ADF members who have different careers and life experiences share their personal stories about how staying connected helped them and their families, including through difficult times. It also provides advice from a mental health professional and DCO on the importance of supporting each other and getting help when you need it.
Other factors included support from a ‘significant other’ and support offered through the Defence Transition Aides in Schools program.
Staying Connected is now available to all ADF members and their families. Watch it online or borrow it through your local DCO office library. A limited number of copies are available through the Defence Family Helpline by calling 1800 624 608 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
