Employment assistance

Defence Community Organisation’s employment support program for ADF partners recognises the disruption relocation can have on a partner’s employment.

The need to relocate with your partner on posting is an integral part of the Defence lifestyle and can interrupt your employment. If you’re posting to a new location or you have just posted, and you’re an ADF partner looking for work, help is available.

We provide funding for initiatives aimed at contributing to the employability of ADF partners when they are relocated as a consequence of their partner’s military service.

PEEP

Partner Education and Employment Program (PEEP)

Partner Education and Employment Program (PEEP) provides funding towards initiatives aimed at supporting ADF partners find employment when they are relocated on posting.

The program can’t guarantee employment. However, it provides recognised ADF partners with funding assistance to provide up-to-date advice, skills and training to provide them with the best opportunity to find employment in their new location.

Applying before 1 July 2017

PEEP offers various initiatives to eligible partners, including:

  • personalised resume preparation and coaching
  • professional employment assistance (employment advice and help with job applications)
  • professional re-registration (where a legislative requirement exists)
  • education and training courses.

Partners who received PEEP approval before 1 July 2017, and have undertaken components of the approved initiative in the last 12 months, will continue to be funded until their initiative is complete.

This includes PEEP funding for partners undertaking approved long-term education, noting that partners must continue to apply each semester/study period and meet the eligibility requirements of the extant PEEP guidelines.

Partners who submit completed PEEP applications to DCO before 1 July 2017 will have their application assessed under the current PEEP guidelines .

Partners who receive PEEP approval before 1 July 2017

Partners should read the PEEP guidelines before completing the PEEP application form.

You should anticipate that it will take a minimum of 28 days from receipt of a complete application (application form and required attachments) for an assessment to be made. Applicants will be notified in writing of the outcome of their application.

PEEP funding is not guaranteed and is subject to the availability of sufficient funding in the relevant financial year.

Payment of this benefit may result in a reportable Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) amount being recorded against the ADF member, not the partner. We strongly advise you to seek financial advice about how this will affect your tax and benefits before committing to the program.
