Scientific Adviser Capability Development

General

The Scientific Adviser Capability Development (SA-CD) advises the Chief CDG, the CD Group and Divisions on the application of Science and Technology (S&T) to capability development, while also supporting the Client Program Manager (CPM) CD Group in the delivery of S&T support to the CDG client group. SA-CD also advises the CDS, the DSTO Executive, and the Laboratory Divisions on the CDG S&T requirements and priorities, and Project related activities, trends and developments.

In particular, SA-CD and supporting staff are responsible for the following:

  • coordinating the collection, collation, prioritisation and management of S&T requirements and producing CDG client S&T requirements;

  • providing the DSTO Integrated Program Office (IPO) with CDG client requirements which match the DSTO input specification and are of a consistent quality, level of granularity and an assigned priority;

  • for assisting CPM CDG in the development of a common understanding within DSTO of program priorities consistent with CDG client requirements;

  • performing a client relationship management and liaison officer function for DSTO within the CDG client areas and ensuring that the CPM CDG and other DSTO staff, as necessary, are made aware of significant client issues and activities; and

  • facilitating the service provider-customer interactions between DSTO and CDG.
