These charities are the ones that Brigade units focus on. They are by no means the only charities we support, but in order to maximise our effort for effect we concentrate on these and where capacity is available we go for more. All units also strongly support the Red Shield Defence Services as they do such an outstanding job at supporting us especially when we are in the field.

2007 Support Provided

1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment

Despite being on operations most of 2007, 1 RAR managed to do its fair share of charity work.

ACCIA Children's Ride for Cancer

Activity: A four day activity which included a three day bike ride that went from Townsville to Cairns.

Support Provided: Catering Platoon provided support to feed 250-300 pers on a daily basis throughout the bike ride. Catr Pl was responsible for purchasing foodstuffs through local businesses and providing balanced dietary requirements to all participants.

The Mayors' Christmas BBQ

CPL Stojanowski has, for the past two years, volunteered his time to provide a BBQ on Boxing day for the homeless of Townsville and Thuringowa. CPL Stojanowski was first made aware of the event by his wife's church group and was asked to assist. Boxing Day 2007 had further support from the Mayor and was named The Mayor's Xmas BBQ. CPL Stojanowski worked three days in ordering, preparing and cooking for the event. Each year CPL Stojanowski fed approx 250 pers on the day.

Fund Raising for the Lukemia Foundation

At the Brigade Swimming Carnival in February 2008 we presented the Leukaemia Foundation with a cheque for $2,164 raised from donations by 3 CSR, money donated by ADCU and collected from soldiers on the day of the Swimming Carnival.

4th Field Regiment, Royal Regiment of Australian Artillery

Red Cross

In March 2007 raised $7000 was raised by the Regiment for the Red Cross.

Gunner Ainscough's Family

Gunner Ainscough died in an accident in November 2007 and the Regiment through personal donations assisted the his family.

Mary Mackillop Foundation

In November 2007 the soldiers of the Regiment made personal contirubtions to the Mary Mackillop Foundation at the request of the family after the death of Major Michael Dawson in a motor vehicle accident in NQ.

3rd Combat Engineer Regiment

Abused Children's Trust

In a big drive for fund raising 3 CER raised $24,000 for the Abused Children's Trust during Exercise Dash for Cash by collecting at shopping centres and Strand Markets. TMembers of the Family Support Group for the 3 CER also donated "teddy bears" for the children.
