REGIMENTAL SERGEANT MAJOR WO1 ANTHONY DUNNE

Warrant Officer Class One Tony Dunne enlisted into the Army on 14 August 1979. At the completion of recruit training he was allocated to the Royal Australian Armoured Corps and was posted to the 1st Armoured Regiment. Whilst in the Regiment he attained the rank of Corporal and, in December 1985, was posted to the 1st Recruit Training Battalion as a Recruit Instructor. In January 1987 he was promoted to Sergeant and completed his tenure at the Recruit Training Battalion as a Platoon Sergeant. He was subsequently posted to 2nd/14th Light Horse Regiment as an APC Troop Sergeant, later serving in that same unit as the Regimental Signals Sergeant and Regimental Operations Sergeant.

In August 1991 he was promoted to Warrant Officer Class Two and posted to the School of Armour as the Training Co-Ordination Warrant Officer. Whilst there he also served as the Wing Sergeant Major of Communications Wing and after two years in that position was posted, as a Squadron Sergeant Major, to 2nd Cavalry Regiment. During this posting he saw the introduction into service of the ASLAV - his Squadron being the first operational sub-unit equipped with that vehicle.

Warrant Officer Dunne attended the 1/97 Regimental Sergeant Major Course and received the Field Marshal Blamey Memorial Award for Student of Merit.

His first appointment as Regimental Sergeant Major was to 4th/19th Prince of Wales's Light Horse Regiment from March 1998 to January 2001.

His second appointment as Regimental Sergeant Major was to 2nd/14th Light Horse Regiment from January 2002 to January 2004.

In 2004 Warrant Officer Dunne deployed to the Sinai, in Egypt, as part of the Multi National Force and Observers. On return to Australia he remained in South-East Queensland, in the Regional Training Centre, before being posted as the Career Manager, Royal Australian Armoured Corps, at the Soldier Career Management Agency in Victoria.

He assumed his current position as the Regimental Sergeant Major of the 1st Brigade in January 2006.

Warrant Officer Dunne is married and has four children. His interests include boating and fishing.
