Aim

To qualify Service personnel in the general duties of Service Police, whilst assessing their suitability for employment as Service Police members.

General

This is a 16 days continuous, Tri-service course for Active Reserve (ARes) members to gain part qualification in the employment of Service Police. This course prepares members in the general policing duties required of a Service Police member; however, members must attain all required modules to be fully qualified as a Service Police member.
This course also assesses trainee's suitability as a Service Police member.

Prerequisites


RAN -
Rank: AB - LS
Medical: Meet RAN standards of medical and physical fitness
Experience: Be a Leading Seaman or an Able Seaman with a minimum of two years seniority in rank and have the promotional prerequisites for Leading Seaman (i.e. selected for Leading Seaman Leadership Course); hold a current (vehicle) driving licence; and hold a Helmsman Certificate (Proficiency No: 103185).

ARMY -
Rank: PTE (TRN) - SGT
Medical: Medical Class 2
Experience: Minimum of having completed Initial Recruit Training. Have no convictions in respect of offences involving violence, dishonesty, insubordination, major or repeated traffic offences, disobedience of command or drug abuse.

RAAF -
Rank: AC/W minimum
Medical: Meet Air Force standards of medical and physical fitness
Experience: Minimum of having completed Initial Recruit Training. In addition to the general entry requirements, candidates for the SECPOL Mustering must hold a current unrestricted Australian Class 1 (or equivalent) Motor Vehicle licence issued for vehicles with manual transmission. The holder of the licence must be free of traffic infringements that may cause future cancellation of the licence.

Pre Course

There is no precourse for this module of the SPBC, however it is strongly recommend that Units panelling personnel on this course ensure they have an understanding of the following doctrine and references and their location on the Defence Restricted Network (DRN). Access to necessary doctrine is available through the doctrine website. There is no requirement for these documents to be printed; however, it is strongly recommended that trainees read and be familiar with the following:

Administration requirements

Trainees are to complete all administrative requirements prior to marching in to their respective courses.

Trainees are to download the Joining Instruction and Defence Police Training Centre - Trainee Handbook and complete all pre-course administration as directed as an absolute minimum prior to their attendance.
