General
RACMP Officers and ORs are selected consistent with their aptitude, physical fitness, ethical demeanour and psychological suitability.
Military Police require Officers and ORs of high intelligence, an independant outlook on their service and high degrees of inititative. Military Police offer a broad and diverse career in many different streams of combat support policing.

Pre-Requisites
Essential
To be eligible to enlist into the RACMP, both FT and PT, a person must have:
a. minimum PULHEEMS profile of 3333-8/3-8/3-22 and a colour perception not below CP2;
b. current AIRN compliance ;
c. minimum educational standard of level 2 or Subject 3 for SGT (may be waived by RACMP TA if the interviewing psychologist considers the applicant capable of effective verbal and written communication);
d. reached 18 years of age; and
e. have no convictions in respect of offences involving violence, dishonesty, insubordination, major or repeated traffic offences, disobedience of command or drug abuse.
Desirable
It is desirable for all in-service applicants to hold the following military driving licences:
a. motorcycle (R1);b. landrover (LR2); andc. motor vehicle (C1)
In addition all applicants must have a military and civil record that is acceptable to SCMA and for service in the RACMP. As guidance, an applicant's record is unacceptable if they have:
a. been warned for reduction in rank or discharge on the grounds of inefficiency or unsuitability;
b. been convicted of a driving offence involving alcohol or repeated traffic offences;
c. served a period of detention; and/or
d. been convicted, as an adult, for a criminal offence.
Return of Service Obligation
All personnel undergoing the following RACMP training will incur a Return of Service Obligation (ROSO) of one year from the date of completion of their respective courses:
a. MP Basic Course;
b. Investigation Qualification Course
c. All Military Working Dog Handler Courses.
How to Apply
SCMA will call for applications for corps transfer to RACMP up to six months prior to each Military Police Basic Course. However, a soldier may apply to transfer to RACMP at any time by submitting a PE 166 Application for Posting/Retention/Corps-Transfer/Re-allocation/Discharge through their unit orderly room to SCMA.
Psychological Testing
Units are responsible for ensuring soldiers undergo testing by an Army Psychologist as to the suitability of the candidate and have that test forwarded to DPSYCH and SCMA.
RACMP Interview
A senior RACMP Officer in the region will also interview the candidate for suitability.
